About the Artist
Miguel Payano is an American artist of Dominican Republic background who is based in Beijing, China. He paints in oil, acrylic and ink on canvas, paper and wood. His exhibitions often combine installation with paintings. The subjects of his paintings are primarily figural with narrative undertones, but also include sculptural abstractions. His process includes working from life, photos and pure imagination. His style is difficult to classify as it incorporates elements of representational and abstract painting. His works are influenced by American, Chinese and Latin visual and linguistic cultures.His art has been exhibited in Beijing (798, Song Zhuang, CIGE, Art Beijing) New York, Massachusetts and Italy.
